29/01/2011

This is our first update in a while. We have really left the system to grow and work as much as we could since November 2010.

We are now sitting at about 3600 blogs on the network.

Today we have removed all blogs that have been inactive for over 100 days and all spam sites we can see. This is a regular thing but we do occasionally have a day or so where the whole network is checked in greater detail.

Hopefully some advances in the site coming soon !!

11/11/2010

We have put on another 5-10 plugins and themes this week. We are going to progress at a slower speed than we have been from now onwards as we are getting some good feedback.

Growth is heading back to its previous level with spam users down by about 60% daily. We are seeing less and less each day which is a great thing. Once we get all the bad IP blocks we will be fine.

We could have got rid of the spam registrations much quicker by blocking full IP ranges and the highest spam registration producing country’s but we want to keep our service open to all.

Now that all is stable and we are happy with the site we are going to get the adverts back online to start paying for the service.

5/11/2010 – Further Update

Okay its been about a week since we basically restarted the system from scratch. We have recovered 64%  ofthe data but cannot get the rest of the data back. We apologise for this but lessons were learnt and it will not happen again.

We now have 14 themes and 24 plugins online which means we are already ahead of where we were before. We reccomend you tell us what you want and we will try to get it online.

More updates will come to the site next week!!

Spam Users

A fairly simple system has now been put into place on LBLOG.co.uk to help reduce the number of spam users who are using the system.

Although most spam registrations are being caught by the spam blockers a huge number are still getting through. These sites are slowing down the lblog.co.uk service and this is really annoying us.

To get around it we are continually prowling through the database removing all entries that look suspicious. All entries on which we are not 100% positive will be placed into a pending list from which they will be monitored until we can decide what they are.

In the 5 minutes this post has taken to write we have got 7 “spam users” registered and through our spam barriers. These sites were deleted by me personally and if i am not here another member of the team will monitor.

Thanks,
